Herb Wilson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed imagery analyst, passed away on March 26, 2025, in Vandalia, Ohio. Born on June 15, 1940, in Smithville, Missouri, Herb dedicated his life to both his family and a remarkable career that spanned 35 years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB).
Herb pursued his education with determination, earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Missouri State College. He brought the same dedication and integrity to his professional life, where he earned the respect of his colleagues and superiors as an accomplished imagery analyst. His passion for his work was evident, as he approached each day with enthusiasm and commitment.
Known for his good nature and often infused with a sense of humor, Herb had a knack for combining wit with sincerity. His personality truly shone through in his relationships, blending a thoughtful demeanor with moments of lighthearted sarcasm that brought joy to those around him.
An avid golfer, Herb found great pleasure in spending time on the green, cherishing the moments it brought him both relaxation and camaraderie. However, his most treasured moments were those spent with his family, where his love and dedication were most palpable.
Herb is survived by his devoted wife, Barb Wilson, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage. He was a proud father to April Barnswell, Lori (Keith) Holmes, and Matthew (Jen) Wilson. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Chloe Barnswell, Katie Holmes, Nicholas Holmes, Isabella Wilson, and Zachary Wilson, with whom he enjoyed countless cherished memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson and Nellie Wilson, as well as his brother, Warren Wilson. Herb's warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His impact on their lives will surely be felt for years to come as they hold his memory close to their hearts.
