Henry N. Temple
Age 83 of Medway was called to Heaven on Monday (8/15/2011).
He was born at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH on November 26, 1927.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Loretta Grimes of Hillsboro; adoptive parents, Stanley and Margaret Temple of Dayton; and a brother John Junior Temple of Hillsboro.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Pearl Christine Temple; three daughters and two sons: Linda Kitchen of Indiana, Dreama Temple and Gina Temple of Medway, Stan (Cindy) Temple of Beavercreek, and Glenn "Tony" Temple of Columbus, one sister Wanda Emery of Hillsboro, and five grandchildren: Andy, Sarah, Aaron, Amy and Eric.
Henry honorably served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy including tours in Guam & Hawaii. He was also a member of the naval patrol team in San Francisco Bay during the prison riots on Alcatraz Island in 1946. He later served as a volunteer fire fighter in Mad River Township for over 18 years. In 1989 Henry retired from the Dayton Daily News with 40 years of service as a pressman.
Henry was a life-long Christian and faithful member of the New Beginnings Church of God, Huber Heights. Henry will always be remembered as a deeply religious and humble man who cherished his wife, his children, and grandchildren, and was always helping other people in their time of need.
Henry's family would like to extend their appreciation to the wonderful staff at Day-View Care Center in New Carlisle for the care and compassion they have given Henry and his wife Pearl.
The family will be receiving friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., Thursday at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend John Lamb and Reverend Dennis Epperson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
