Henry C. Clair
1924-2013
Clair, Henry C. age 89 passed peacefully on December 30, 2013. He was born on October 2, 1924 to John and Ida Ellen Clair in Menifee, Wolfe County, Ky. He was married 65 years to Virginia Harvey who predeceased him in 2012.
Henry was a veteran of the US Army during World War II having served with the 394th Recon Battalion, 2nd Armored Division during D-Day, (the Invasion of Normandy) the battle of the Bulge and the Liberation of Berlin. After the war he was stationed in Berlin, Germany with the Military Police.
Henry retired from General Motors Plant Security after 33 years of service. Henry worked for many years as a distinguished member of law enforcement starting with the Beavercreek Police Department in 1962. He was the first Police Chief for Sugarcreek Township Police Department from 1976-1979.
He leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Charles McIntosh of Tipp City and son and daughter-in-law David H. and Leslie Clair of Cedarville, family friends, Martha Whited and Ellen Whited and his "buddy", Sadie. He also has 4 grandsons, John Whitson, John, Alex, and James Clair and 8 great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek on Tuesday, January 7th at 11:00 am with service following at 12:00 pm with Pastor Steve Woodman of Kemp Rd. Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery.
