Helen Swallows, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully in Dayton, Ohio, on November 23, 2024, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. Born October 13, 1965, in Dayton, she brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew her.
Helen was known for her infectious sense of humor and genuine demeanor. A fun-loving spirit, she had a knack for making people laugh and often found joy in the little things in life. She cherished her memories of running around in her car during the rain, delighting in splashing unsuspecting pedestrians. Helen also treasured her time spent with her Emerson Bulldog friends, where her lively personality shone through.
Among her many interests, Helen had a passion for singing karaoke, riding on the back of her husband Craig's motorcycle, and spending sun-soaked days at the beach. She delighted in bonfires and enjoying porch beers with her family and friends, relishing the moments spent with the people she loved most.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Craig Swallows, and her loving children: Megan Ferguson, David (Heather) Ferguson, and Jessica (Chris) Wilson, as well as step-son Allen Swallows. Helen's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Raven Ferguson, David Ferguson, Kelseigh Hood, Mason Hood, Karina; and Mackenzie Wilson, Chrissie Wilson, and Lejend Wilson.
She is also survived by her siblings, Timmy (Kim) Ferguson and Carol Smith, as well as brother Eddie (Victoria) Ferguson. Helen was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember her fondly. She shared a special bond with her dear friend Robin Wilson, affectionately known as her "chickie."
Helen was preceded in death by her father Charles "Sonny" Ferguson, her mother Marty Hoos, and her son Shawn Ferguson. Each of these losses carved spaces in her heart that were filled with the love and memories she created during her time with them.
Helen Swallows will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her spirit, laughter, and zest for life will remain in the hearts of her family and friends, serving as a reminder to cherish every moment and embrace joy wherever it may be found.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to the funeral home to help the family with final expenses.
