Helen Louise Schonsheck went to be with the Lord peacefully on March 5, 2009 from Liberty Retirement Community of Washington Township. Helen recently celebrated her 83rd birthday in her home in Sugar Creek Township. Helen was born on January 16, 1926 in Wyandotte, Michigan to the Reverend Paul and Charlotte Waschilewsky. Helen and her devoted husband, Wil Schonsheck, have been residents of Dayton for 48 years. Helen's greatest joys in life centered around her husband, her 7 children and their spouses, her 15 grandchildren, and her 3 great-grandchildren—and serving her Lord. An accomplished artist, Helen's sweet spirit and countenance will be remembered by many around the world who were touched by her spirit-filled life. In 1996, Wil and Helen formed Eldad Medad Ministries, Inc. and dedicated themselves to ministering to those in need and bolstering the faith of those seeking a closer walk with God. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth Behrendt of Dearborn, Michigan and her brother Carl Wallis of Hercules, California. She is survived by her sisters Anita Meyer of Prescott, Arizona, Doris Frobel of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Eunice Doroh of St. Joseph, Michigan. Helen is also survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Wil Schonsheck, her 7 children, Robin Paris and husband Richard; Jonathan Schonsheck and wife Jan Coy; Bonnie Kitchen and husband Roddi; Stephanie Paris and husband Bill; Christopher Schonsheck and wife Penny; Kimberly Afshin and husband Bobby; and Jeremy Schonsheck and wife Paulette. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 9, 2009 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 4865 Wilmington Pike, Kettering.
