Helen K. Schleyer

Schleyer, Helen K., age 89, of Huber Heights, passed away on, Friday, May 22, 2009 at home. She was born November 23, 1919 in her home in Phelps, KY, the daughter of John C. and Mary Jane Kirk. She graduated high school in Majestic, KY and went on to college in Northern Kentucky. During WWII Helen entered the WAVES and worked as a dental assistant. Following the war, she continued to work as a dental assistant for the Veterans Administration and she married Stanley B. Schleyer in Dec. 1946. They lived in Ft. Thomas, KY, Minneapolis, MN, Shawnee Missions, KS, and then retired to Northern KY. Her husband Stanley passed away in 1997. Following the death of her father in 1950 she became a caregiver to her mother, who passed away in 1998. Helen was a faithful giver to both charity and church. She was an animal lover. She is survived by her brother, William H. Kirk of Huber Heights. The family will receive friends at the Maranatha Bible Church, 6585 Fishburg Rd., Huber Heights, Ohio on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 10-11:30 AM. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 AM. Helen will be laid to rest in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas, KY. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, North Chapel.
