Helen Evans

EVANS, Helen M., age 92, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Shiloh Springs Care Center, Trotwood, Ohio. Born July 15, 1916 in Pike County, Indiana to the late Otto & Alma France, she was preceded in death by her husband William D. Evans of Dayton, Ohio; her brother, Byron France of Piqua, Ohio, and her sister, Ruth Baringer of Springfield, Ohio. Survived by son, David Evans of Pickerington, Ohio; daughter, Carol Sears of Kettering, Ohio; son, Larry Evans of Dayton, Ohio; grandson, Tom Sears of Dublin, Ohio; graddaughter, Kelly Barnett of Cincinnati, Ohio, and great grandchildren, Nathan and Anna Sears, and Cade and Kendall Barnett. Helen was raised in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Columbus North High School in 1932, and then Ohio State University in 1937 with a degree in Education. She has been a life-long member of Kappa Phi. After graduation from Ohio State, she taught English, Math, and Latin in the Waterford, Ohio high school. She married William D. Evans in 1939. They moved to Dayton, Ohio later that year and subsequently lived and raised their family there. She moved to Shiloh Springs Care Center in 2002. Funeral services will be held at 12:00p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Family will receive friends from 11:00a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial park Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Dayton.
