KOGUT, Helen C. (Neburka), age 91, of Dayton, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008. Helen was born March 20, 1917 in Chicago IL. to parents Martin and Clara (Jankovic) Neburka. She graduated from Austin High School in 1934. Graduated from business school and then worked in Sears Roebuck offices. She married Paul W. Kogut in 1939. She was one of a small group of women to form an informal Mother's Club in the late 40's, followed by establishing a PTA Chapter in Cameron Elementary School from which she, her husband, and children graduated. Helen served in all of the offices in this PTA chapter. Her other interests included music, baking, sewing, crocheting, and hat making. In 1965 she, her family, and her mother moved to Dayton. She added tailoring, gardening, and canning to her repertoire and won many Montgomery County Fair ribbons in all sorts of categories. Helen was an active member of Fresh Air Garden Club, AARP National and AARP Dayton Local Chapter #3858, a volunteer at Hipple Cancer Center, Arthritis Foundation and Public Television, member and officer of Grant Court Resident Group. Claimed she was a professional volunteer and served in all offices in most of these. Along with all of this she edited many technical papers for her husband. She was always the inveterate optimist. No matter what she always saw the glass half full. Helen was a faithful and regular correspondent with friends and relatives all over the country. For many years she was a care giver par excellence to her mother then her husband. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels in Chicago for 40 years and of Holy Angels in Dayton for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul and only brother, Will and his wife, Ruth. Survivors include her daughter Clara (James) Totten and their daughter Laurel (Karl) Fisher and her son James. Also two nieces and one nephew and their families, one brother-in-law and his family, and her very best friend Marge of over 86 years.
