HARRISON, Hazel Augusta, age 96, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013. Hazel was born on June 2, 1917 in Honaker, Virginia to Ethyl Lee Comer and Bernard Bee Harrison.
She grew up on a farm in Russell County, Virginia and graduated from high school before moving with her family to Lebanon, Ohio. Hazel worked at Frigidaire and NCR during World War II, then graduated from Kosta Beauty School. She moved for a time to New Mexico where she was a cook for the hired hands for her Uncle Jess. She returned to Dayton and had a 28 year career as a beautician at Rike's in Dayton. She lived in Huber Heights, Kettering, and at the Lakewood Apartments on Wilmington Ave.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Monna R. Arment and Sada Harrison; brother, Bernard Harrison, and sister-in-law, Ginny Harrison. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 30, 2013 at the funeral home, with burial following at Bethany Church Cemetery, Lebanon.
