MAYHUE, Hazel Bernetta 95 years of age, beloved mother, grandmother and matriarch of the Mayhue family in Rochester, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Trinity Community Health Care Center of Beavercreek, Ohio. Born April 22, 1911 in York, PA, a daughter of the late William F. and Sadie L. Shyler. Her husband of 63 years, Ernest L. Mayhue, passed away in June of 1992.
She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Rochester, PA and lived the majority of her life in Rochester before coming to Kettering, OH to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and William F. Drake III.
Hazel was a wonderful homemaker whose smile and friendliness was remarkable to family, friends and strangers alike bringing much joy and pleasure to all. She was very hospitable and always welcoming to anyone visiting her home. During her last 5 years at Trinity she made many friends with the other residence and her caretakers, who miss her dearly.
Surviving are her brother Frederick L. Shyler of Erie, PA 92 years old, her daughter Joan D. Mayhue of Denver, CO, her son Frederick E. Mayhue of PA, and her daughter Sandra L. Mayhue Drake of Kettering, OH, eleven grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary Sportsman's Club, an avid auction attendee, and was involved for years with her husband in boating on Lake Erie.
A local memorial service will be held 4:30 pm Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Trinity Community 3218 Indian Ripple Road, Beavercreek, OH., with Chaplain Bev Jenkins officiating. Family will receive friends from 3:30 pm until time of service. A final memorial and interment at Sylvania Hills, New Brighton, PA will follow later in the spring, on April 22, 2007.
