Harry Gabbard

Harry Gabbard, age 67, of Kettering, OH passed away Friday August 31, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Elsie Gabbard; and brothers, Paul and Guy Gabbard.

Harry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda (nee: Koettel) Gabbard; children, Kristin Leigh, Jessica Lynne, Scott Douglas Smith, Sheri Rae Smith, and Ashley Durig; grandchildren, Sophie Allen Smith, Max Douglas Smith, Grace Margaret Smith, and Silas Keagan Tate.

Harry was a US Army veteran and volunteered during the Vietnam War and was a very proud Military Police Officer. Harry and Linda met in Ohio and moved to California and were blessed with 2 beautiful daughters who were the love of his life. Upon moving the family back to Ohio, he was blessed with 4 precious grandchildren.

Harry was a kind and friendly social person who loved people and was very funny. He would go out of his way to do anything for anybody. He loved his family very much. Life will never be the same again without him and we will all miss his witty dry sense of humor.

Visitation is Friday September 7, 2012 from 3pm to 5pm with funeral service starting at 5pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel), Kettering, OH.

Urn burial will take place at a later date at the Dayton VA National Cemetery, Dayton, OH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
