Harrison Avery

Harrison Avery, age 81, of Trotwood, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2022. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 20th, 1940, to Jesse and Pearlie Avery.
He loved the Lord. His faith was strong. He loved his family and enjoyed going to church, reading his bible, watching religious programs and good food. He always took great pride in a clean car, sharp clothes and looking good! In his earlier days, he liked to go fishing and loved to play baseball as a kid. He was employed by Frigidaire, General Motors and Yoder Industries (retired).
Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Pearlie Lee Avery; his first wife, Ruby Jewel Avery; his son, Harrison Avery Jr.; son, Derrick Avery; sister, Elizabeth Avery; sister, Jessie Lee Swain.
His memory will be cherished by his beloved wife of 11 years, Dorothy Avery; sons: Robert Avery, Jesse Avery, and Melvin Avery; daughter: Lavern Alexander; brother: Godfrey (Sandy) Avery; Step Daughters: DeSandra Edwards King, Donna King- Montgomery (Marquise), LaShonda Leak; Step Son: Damon Baker; Grand Daughters: Janae Hale (Marcellus), Ciera Avery, Ashley Smith; Grandsons: Robert Avery Jr., Rodrick Avery (Ra'Crae) and a host of great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 2:00pm. A burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton.
