Harriett Russell

Russell, Harriett J., age 87 of Dayton, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2007 at Arbors of Dayton. She was born October 15, 1919 in Dayton, Ohio to John & Katie (Hardin) Johnson. She retired from the VA Center and was also involved with the Urban League. Harriett was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William Johnson, Charles Sheffield, Kenneth Johnson; and her sisters, Eva Gardner & Lula Mae Jackson. Survivors include her husband Luther Russell; son, Dale Russell of Dayton; grandchildren, Vionne Calhoun of Tempe, AZ, Shaunte Russell, & Sheena Russell, both of Dayton; sisters, Elizabeth Gregg of Denver, CO, Charlotte (Richard) Finley, & Jeraldine Charles, both of Dayton; special friend, Ruth Edmonds of Dayton; and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 401 S. Paul Lawrence Dunbar St., Dayton, OH, with Dr. Charles S. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10 AM until the time of services.
