Harriet P. McConnell, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, in Vandalia, Ohio, at the age of 86. Born on November 4, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio, Harriet lived a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.

A proud graduate of Dayton Roosevelt High School, class of 1957, Harriet's life was marked by her strong character and unwavering devotion to her family. Known for her stoic demeanor, she created an enduring legacy through her warmth and kindness. Harriet cherished the time spent with her beloved children and especially her grandchildren, whom she adored unconditionally.

Harriet's family includes her children: John (Karen) McConnell, Mark (Debra) McConnell, Kathy Wright, and Christine (John) Reigle. She was a proud grandmother to Sarah Ryall, Samuel McConnell, Stephen McConnell, James McConnell, Benjamin McConnell, Brandon Reigle, Noah Reigle, and Madison Reigle. The delight of her life extended further with her great-grandchildren, Lucy and Liam Ryall, and Eisen and Cohen McConnell. Harriet will also be lovingly remembered by her sister, Mary McConnell, her brothers: Peter Courlas II, David Courlas, and Timothy (Linda) Courlas, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who held a special place in her heart.

Harriet's culinary skills were legendary; she made the best cabbage rolls and divine divinity candy that brought joy to all who tasted them. A music lover at heart, she played the organ and often sang with her family, filling their home with delightful melodies. Her green thumb made her a true florist, as she loved tending to her flowers, nurturing them to bloom beautifully.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Peter H. and Georgia Courlas; her husband, Harley McConnell; her son, Daniel McConnell; her sister, Annette Owens; and her brother, George Courlas.

A visitation in her honor will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45424, where the funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Harriet's family would like to thank the staff at Stonespring of Vandalia and Hospice of Dayton, for their loving care during her transition from her earthly presence to her heavenly home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Harriet's memory to Hospice of Dayton.

As those she leaves behind navigate life without her physical presence, they will carry with them the lessons she imparted, the love she shared, and the strength she embodied. Harriet may be gone from this world, but her legacy of love will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
