Harold Stephen Lovett, Sr., age 77, was born and raised in Dayton, OH, earned his wings on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Grandview Hospital. He was the last of the Lovett Crew, preceded in death by his loving parents: George and Lucille Lovett; brothers: Ulysses, Gerald, Charles, Roosevelt "Teddy" Lovett, and Manuel "Sonny" Mayfield; sisters: Linda and Beverly Lovett, Elaine Floyd, Priscilla Brown, Naomi Dunn, and Lucille "Boots" Mosley.
Our father worked hard and had mastery skills in the field of carpentry. He could transform floors like roads of gold and paint like a skilled artist. He was a jack of all trades when came to fixing up homes and roofing. One of his last projects at the age of 76, he transformed his sister Lucille's living space into an urban look - and it was magnificent. Harold was loyal, loving to his family and devoted. There was nothing Harold would not do for all of us! Harold worked at Hollister Co, studied at OIP&T, and was an Alumni of Dunbar High School. He worked extremely hard his entire life and was fortunate to retire as a master chief carpenter and truck driver of many years.
Harold had a unique personality. He was quiet and dressed silky smooth head to toe; but he was best known for wearing the suave hats and baseball caps. Everything had to match! Harold's biggest joy was spending time with his grandchildren; family meant the world to him, and he meant the world to all of us. There will never be another Harold Stephen Lovett, Sr. but all of us has a piece of him inside of us.
Harold leaves to cherish his memory forever, loving children: Anthony "Tony" Lovett, Tanya Lovett, and Harold Stephen, Jr. "Steve" (Erica) Lovett; loyal and devoted best friend Buster Brown; six grandchildren: Chase Lovett, Mychael Lovett, Marina Stokes, Christian Martin-Lovett, Kam'ren Woodruff-Lovett, Anessa Lovett; two great grandchildren: Mycah Durham and Ryan Moore Jr.; a host of nieces and nephews including: Jeri, Mark, Ricky, Jeff, Keisha, Leslie, Craig, Quaida, Pat, AuDrena, Kirl, Oliver, Manny, Michael, Valerie, Erick, and Kaneika; as well as many other relatives and friends including special friends, Taurus Pounds and Calvin Sims. An incredibly special thank you goes to the doctors, nurses, and critical care staff at Grandview Hospital; but Harold was especially thankful for the wonderful care he received from his surgeon, Dr. Ashley Howell it meant everything to him.
