Harold James (Jim or Nick)Nixon

February 20, 1916 – June 26, 2010. Born in Canton & raised in Sandyville. He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1935. He was a 5 year veteran of WWII & served with the Ohio 37th Division in the South Pacific & the 987th A.F.A.B.N. in the Korean War for two years with 5 Bronze Battle Stars. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service in 1982. He was a Life Member of the VFW # 693 & Post # 6 D.A.V. & Post # 44 American Legion. He was a 32 degree Mason & member of Canton Lodge # 60 since 1946. Survivors are daughter & son-in-law, Susan & Greg Darling of Centerville & daughter & grandson, Christine & Ethan Egan of Massillon & many nieces & nephews. Dearest friend, Fay Oldroyd of Massillon & her daughters & son-in-law & grandchildren of Venice, FL. Cremains have been buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Sandyville. Memorial services will be held July 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Shephard of the Valley Lutheran Church, 4796 Crossroads Road N. E., Sandyville, Ohio. Military honors will follow memorial service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville.
