Harold S. Hunt departed this life peacefully on May 16, 2023. He was born in Greensboro, NC, on July 31, 1941. He married his high school sweetheart, Phoebe Ann Renegar, on December 16, 1961. They lived happily for 61 years.
Harold was a pioneer in many ways in his life with so many accomplishments but none more important or valued to him than his family. He had one daughter, Lisa Fogwell (Dorsey) and one son, Gregory Hunt (Jodi). He had five granddaughters: Caroline Fogwell (Marouane Ferjani), Maggie DeShazer (Robby); Addison, Lindsey and Reaghan Hunt; and one great-grandson, Ishaq Ferjani. He was also very close to his sister-in-law, Kathy Smith, and brother-in-law, Lee (Tona) Renegar.
Harold began his career in the Air Force where they pioneered a program at Norad for an air traffic control over North America and beyond. He bridged that experience into computer programming before anyone knew what computers did. He was again on the cutting edge of developing software for NCR. He helped them develop and market the software and hardware integrations for the first ATM's in the U.S. He finished his career at Reynolds & Reynolds where he worked closely with auto dealers and helped develop inventory and back-office systems for that industry at Reynolds & Reynolds.
Harold retired early to enjoy his family, golf, motorcycling and traveling. He was a quiet, unassuming man who was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, our beloved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
