Harold Winsor Goens, age 88, of Dayton, passed away on October 7th, 2021. He was born in Greenville, Ohio, on December 11, 1932, the son of the late Cyrus N. and Irma B. (Mason) Goens of Greenville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Mariann Elizabeth Goens; his brother, Duane N. Goens; and his sister, Mary Frances Goens.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Cleo F. (Goens) Mason, of Columbus; his 2 step-daughters, Julie (Jimmy) Tanner, of Dayton, and Patricia Jones, of Columbus; 3 grandsons; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and care givers; his 3 devoted friends, Richard G. Brooks, John B. Johnson and Janet K. Goens, all of Dayton, who will always keep him in their thoughts and prayers; and his devoted pet, Big Buddy.
Harold retired from General Motors, where he was a member of the IUE-CWA Labor Union. He was also a World War II Veteran. In his free time, he loved to go fishing, bowling and play cards. He was in many bowling tournaments.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am-11:30am, on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where Funeral Services will begin at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
