Harold E. Murphy, age 87, of Kettering passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011.
Harold was born in Eaton, OH on November 15, 1923. He graduated from Roosevelt High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; parents Harry & Mary Edith Murphy; brother, Harry Duane Murphy and sister, Helen Louise Stewart.
He is survived by daughters, Diana (Tom) Claude, Barbara (Bob) Chandler, Beverly (Ed) Tangeman, Darlene (Bob) Robinson; son James (Jan) Murphy; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Harold was "Grandpa" to everyone and welcomed many into his extended family. Harold was a charter member of Ascension Church, a past President of Eagles #321, and a member of VFW Post 9927. He retired from Vulcan Tool Company and Frickers. Harold was a veteran of WWII and served in the 446th Bomb Group in Bungay, England.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October16, 2011 from 4-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (Kettering, OH). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 17, 2011 at 10:30 am at The Church of the Ascension (2025 Woodman Dr., Kettering, OH 45420).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
