Harlis Combs, age 77, of Riverside, passed away February 6, 2023. He was born July 22, 1945 in Clayhole, KY to the late French and Ethel Combs. In addition to his parents, Harlis was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Mildred, Edith, Wallace, Sam, Willard and Lou; and granddaughter, Tia Combs.
Harlis is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Jeannie Combs; daughters: Donice McCoy (James) and Missy Batdorf; grandchildren: Brandon McCoy (Sasha), Christopher McCoy, Nicholos McCoy (Rachel), Wesley Emanoff III (Courtney), Katina Srode (Derek), Brittany Smith and Ashley Smith; great-grandchildren: Aiden, Kaitlyn, Kaci, Derek James, Dustin, Tristin, Rowdy and A'Rayah; sister, Haney Bea Patrick; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Harlis was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He became an ordained minister of the Baptist Church, he played many different musical instruments and loved using his hands to make quilts, furniture, bracelets and leather. Harlis enjoyed hunting, fishing playing music and singing, but more than anything he loved the Lord. He was a very kind and giving man. Harlis loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Bearcreek Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Harlis' memory to any veteran's organization of your choice.
