H. Clay White, 80, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022.
He was born February 15, 1942, in Covington, Kentucky, the son of George and Katherine White. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Ohio University and a Master's Degree in Fine Arts from Bakers University. He served in the United States Air Force, including a tour in Vietnam.
Clay had a passion for looking through a camera lens and was a Commercial Photographer and photographed a wide variety of things. He worked at Hallmark for over 10 years helping to create various art pieces. After leaving Hallmark, he worked at Brightwood, formerly the Ohio Institute of Photography & Technology, as a Professor for over 30 years. There, he taught a variety of subjects, ranging from photography to English and history. His first love was education and after career in photography, Clay began helping educate those incarcerated with Brunner Literacy Center in Dayton, Ohio, helping them obtain their GED and further education.
He enjoyed all sports, but his favorite was baseball. Clay also enjoyed tinkering on old cars.
He is survived by his Son, Sean (Amy) White and their daughter and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Clay's Life will be at 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. In his memory, memorial contributions can be made to Brunner Literacy Center, 1995 Shiloh Springs Ave, Dayton, OH 45426.
