Gregory E. Sanford

Gregory E. Sanford, age 70, of Springfield, passed away November 10, 2021. He was born February 1, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Wesley and Velva Sanford. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth "Izzy" Radcliff.

Greg is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna Sanford; children: Scott Sanford, Shelly Peck (Jerry), Josh Wynne (Jessica), Robert Layne and Cassandra Roberts (Ben); grandchildren: Heather Babbs, Jenna Sanford, Cailey Sanford, Jason Peck, Carrie Peck, J.T. Wynne, Josie Wynne, Jensen Wynne, Brayden Layne, Benny Roberts, Nick Roberts, Damian Roberts, Trae Clark, Shayla Wile, Chayton Wile and Skylee Wile ; great-grandchildren: Arianna, Sonnia, Addisyn, Bentley, Addilyn, Annistyn, Roman, Ezra and Kingstyn; brothers: Randy Sanford (Betty) and Terry Sanford; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Greg worked for and retired from the Clark County Engineers Office, where he was a mechanic for many years. He was an avid drag racer and was well known in the racing community. The "racing family" has lost a huge asset, highly sought after, knowledgeable legend, who was always there willing to lend a hand, never wanting anything in return, except possibly a hot dog and butter pecan ice cream from Norwalk Raceway. Greg was a great, loyal husband, father and grandfather. He was loved and adored and will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Church of God, 3131 Fox Hollow Road, Springfield, where the funeral service will begin at 7:00 pm.
