Kerns, Gregory Howard, age 72, of Dayton, Ohio passed away October 31, 2018 at Miami Valley Hospital.
Greg attended Holy Family Elementary School and was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School, Class of 1964.
After working briefly for Systems Research Laboratories, Greg served in the United States Army; stationed in South Korea and Yuma, Arizona until his discharge in June, 1968.
Greg was an employee of The Hooven Dayton Printing Company as a pressman, and later worked at Select Tool and Die.
One of Greg's great joys in life was coaching football and basketball for St. Helen School with some of his closest friends and reaching C.Y.O. championship status together.
Having been the firstborn in a family of six boys and two girls, Greg forever stayed the Big Brother to his siblings. A generous and caring man, he will be greatly missed by those he left behind.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Catherine J. Kerns; two brothers, Timothy F. Kerns and Steven A. Kerns; and sister-in-law Wanda Kerns.
Greg is survived by his siblings, William G. Kerns; Sandra K. Williamson (John); Jeffrey N. Kerns (Jennifer); Kathleen M. Kerns; Douglas A. Kerns; sisters-in-law Paula Kerns (Steven) and Diann (Timothy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will greet friends and all who wish to share their memories, on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Newcomer – Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio. A service will take place at 6:00pm following visitation.
In Lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be a fitting memorial to Greg's life.
