Gregory Lee Jones

November 26, 1953 — May 31, 2022

Gregory Lee Jones, "Gregg," age 68 of Miamisburg, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022. He was born November 26, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Lyle Davis; and father, Eddie (Laverne) Jones.

Gregg is survived by his children, Erin (Adam) Gargas, Nick Jones; siblings, Mike Jones, Pat Jones, Doug Jones, Kelly (Dana) Beckley, Sandi Donaldson; grandchildren, Max (Meghan) Gargas and Sienna Gargas; great granddaughter, Evelyn Gargas; niece, Kirsten Jones and her children, Jordan and Preslie; as well as numerous loving relatives and many friends.

Gregg excelled in several professions as a loan officer with NCR Credit Union to his most recent position in marketing at Mead (Lexus Nexus).

Gregg was a skilled athlete, striking out 13 batters in one game as an amazing pitcher and was a proficient hitter as well. He was an award-winning gymnast at Miamisburg High School specializing in the pommel horse, parallel bars, and still rings. He made every routine look effortless. He was also an avid golfer whose motto was "Drive for show; putt for dough." He also loved taking his little boat to the river or just sitting on the bank to fish every chance he had any time the weather was nice.

Gregg was a talented singer, songwriter, and self-taught guitarist. His musical career spanned 30 years, playing first with his brothers, Doug and Pat, in the Midnight Suns and Unity and later in life with well-known bands such as The Bearcreek Band, Taxi Dancer, and the Keystones.

Gregg never met a stranger. He was the best listener. He was able to converse on any topic and knew a little about everything. When you had a conversation with Gregg, you felt that you were the most important person in his life at that moment.

Gregg was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was always positive, never complained, and lived his life as a faithful servant of God who always put the needs of others before his own.

Gregg's most important role in life was that of a devoted father to his beautiful children, Erin and Nick.
