Gregory J. Clingman "Greg", age 69, of Kettering, Ohio died Monday, April 17, 2023 after a six month battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Greg was born to Edward Vernon and Phyllis Naomi Clingman on August 17, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, James and Birdella Beard; and in-laws, Harold and Freda Boyd.
Greg is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Donna L. Clingman; daughter, Laura (Keith) Lambert; two grandchildren, Ezra and Naomi; brother, Bruce (Carol) Clingman; brother-in-law, Lloyd (Tamie) Boyd; nephews and nieces, Todd (Karen) Clingman, Janine (Maurice) Sadler, Katie (Aaron) Counts, Erik (Kelsey) Wolfe, and Tyler Boyd. He is also survived by numerous close school and work friends.
Greg graduated from Fairmont East High School in 1971 and went on to attend classes at Wright State University, followed by various trade and related corporate training programs. Greg has always had a passion for vehicles from driving race cars in his twenties, to working in the automotive industry for over 40 years, to taking long rides on his motorcycle as soon as the weather would allow. Greg retired from his most recent full-time position at Lexus of Dayton as Service and Parts Manager, where he was employed for 17 years. Greg pursued many interests, but most recently he enjoyed golfing with family and friends and teaching his grandson how to swing a golf club. He enjoyed reminiscing about his trip to Scotland and discussing his love of the Masters tournament. He was a devoted husband and father and delighted in being a grandfather.
Visitation with the family will be held from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd. Kettering, Ohio 45439). Celebration of Life will be officiated by Pastor Josiah Kagin at 4:00 pm following the visitation.
Family and friends are then invited to a time of continued fellowship at Marion's Pizza where a room has been reserved starting at 5:00 pm. (50 E Stroop Rd, Dayton, OH 45429, located in Town and Country Shopping Center).
