Gordon Whitaker, age 84 of Clayton, passed away September 10, 2016. He was born September 9, 1931 in Cookeville, TN to the late Mack and Arrie Whitaker. In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Madge Whitaker; infant son, Brian Whitaker; and 8 siblings.
Gordon is survived by his daughters: Sally (Steven) Keener and Tracey (Mike) Gibson; 4 grandchildren: Rodney and Ryan Keener, Shannon (Mark) Rimer & Dallas Gibson; 7 great-grandchildren; cousins: Angie and Elmer Sparks; and several nieces and nephews.
Gordon was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean War, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral will begin at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow at Willow View Cemetery. Gordon's family would like to thank Josa, all the caregivers at Walnut Creek Nursing Home and Hospice of Dayton for their loving care.
