Gordon A. Froebel, 98, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at Stone Springs Nursing Home. Gordon was born February 7, 1919 in Coudersport, PA to Arthur and Paula ( Koerner) Froebel. He married Elizabeth Ann Van Deventer on November 25, 1944 and they were married for 66 years.
Gordon was a member of the Painter's and Allied Trades Union and a member of the Huber Heights Senior Center woodcarving group. He made dulcimers and other instruments and was a skilled craftsman in wood working, and was a man of many skills. He was a devoted husband and father, who loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Gordon is survived by his daughter, Karen S. (Will Meece) Froebel; a special grandson Brandon Meece; a niece Paulette Cochete; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a daughter Penelope Miller; two sisters Dorothy and Donna; and a half brother Alan.
A funeral service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio on Monday March 6, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton, OH.
