Gloria Jean "Jeannie" Fentress, of Dayton, departed this earthly life on October 15, 2021. She was born on August, 17, 1949, in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Elijah Lucas and Patricia Tennial. She attended school in East Moline, IL. She met the love of her life Harvey Thomas and moved to Dayton, Ohio, for over 40 years. She worked as a Nursing Aide at Stillwater Center to 30+ years, before retiring. She loved any type of gathering where she could cook for others. She also enjoyed reading and collecting elephant figurines. She was loved by many and was hospitable to all.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Patricia; three brothers, Elijah, Jr., Stanley and Carlis Lucas; two sisters, Sandra and Denise Lucas; two special friends, Isabel and Thelma; and brother-in-law, Wayne Sivels.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Harvey Thomas; 4 children, Charles Fentress, Tremiere, Kandi and Harvey, Jr.; two step-children, Lindale and Tony Thomas; special 1st grandson, Cortlin Fentress; four sisters, Cherry Sivels, Mella Tillman, Vickie Davis and Tracy (Marcus) Copeland; three brothers, Gordon (Eva) Lucas, Kevin Lucas and Louis (Nancy) Lucas; grandchildren, Haven, Zya, Harvey IV, Krisha and Karon; a host of nieces and nephews; special niece, Quiana; and a special friend, Trina.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm-3:00pm, on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where a Memorial Service will begin at 3:00pm.
