With heavy hearts and a multitude of fond memories, we bid farewell to Glenn Herbert Stumpff II, who departed on February 28th, 2024, in Kettering, OH, at the age of 69. Born on April 5th, 1954, in Bellefonte, PA, Glenn left behind a legacy of love, intellect, humor, and adventure. Survived by his wife, Patricia Stumpff; his daughters, Amber Stumpff and Jessica (David) Hodell; his granddaughter, Veda Hodell; his mother, Evelyn Stumpff; and his brothers, David (Vicki) Stumpff, Roger (Jenny) Stumpff, and Brian (Lisa) Stumpff, Glenn's legacy lives on in their hearts. He now joins his father, Dr. Glenn H. Stumpff, and his brother, James Stumpff, in eternal rest.
Glenn was a luminary in the field of aerospace, earning his master's degree in physics from the University of Toledo, and later dedicating 29 years of his career to Ball Aerospace (now BAE Systems) before retiring in 2017. His mind was a treasure trove of equations, where he loved to unravel the everyday mysteries of the universe. Whether pondering the precise thawing time for a Thanksgiving turkey, the scientific superiority of yellow fog lights, or predicting the shape of a shadow, Glenn's mathematical curiosity knew no bounds.
Outside his textbooks, Glenn's adventurous spirit led him to the geocaching community, where he amassed an astounding 16,339 "finds" across a dozen countries, making a name for himself through his passion and humor. His love of geocaching was limitless, as evidenced by the staggering distance he traveled by foot and by car, equivalent to circumnavigating the earth ten times over.
Yet amidst his scholarly pursuits and global adventures, Glenn remained steadfastly committed to his family. A beacon of support and love, he was known to drop everything at a moment's notice to aid family, even in the wee hours of the night. Quietly but fiercely loving, Glenn's presence brought warmth (and sarcasm) to all who knew him.
In honoring Glenn's life, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause near to his heart. Glenn's legacy will live on to uplift those whose lives he touched. Rest easy, dear Glenn, and may your spirit soar among the stars you studied. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
