Glen Allen Pottenger, age 76, passed away December 7, 2024 at Grandview Hospital. He had been a resident of Huber Heights for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Maria; daughter, Bethany (Brian) Slusser of Shelbyville, IN.; grandson, Andrew; granddaughter, Addison; two stepdaughters, Rochelle (Mike) McGowan and Sandi (Rolf) Sheffey; and two brothers, Mike and Dale. He also has several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Rosemary; and sister, Patty.
Glen graduated from Bethel High School, Miami County, in 1967. He immediately became a proud member of the Marine Corp serving from 1967-1971 with one tour in Vietnam. After the service, he got an associate’s degree from Ohio State and at age 64 earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. He spent 50 years as a golf course superintendent, working at various courses. He also was an adjunct professor at Clark State for 7 years. Glen never knew a stranger. He could carry on a conversation with anyone about anything, sometimes to the point of being embarrassing. His favorite was to swap stories and experiences with other veterans-Oh the stories they would tell! Glen loved God, his country, and people.
He will be forever missed by many.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 10-11am at New Beginnings Church of God, 6649 Chambersburg Rd, Huber Heights, OH 45424. The service will follow at 11am, with Pastor Daryl McCoy, Pastor Wallace Davis, and Pastor Dennis Epperson officiating.
Glen will be laid to rest at Union City Cemetery, Union City, IN.
