Glen Eugene Booton

September 1, 1922 — February 14, 2012

Glen Booton, (Colonel, USAF. Retired) born on September 1, 1922 went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 14, 2012.

He faithfully served his country, his family, his church, and his Lord Jesus. He received a football scholarship to Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where he not only played football for Drake, but also basketball, baseball, and track. He held the record for the discus throw for many years.

World War II broke out, so he joined The Army Air Corps (later to become the Air Force). During World War II, he flew 360 combat missions in a B-24 bomber, helping secure freedom for Germany and the world. He flew MATS (Military Air Transport Service) over Germany after the war. His career in the United States Air Force spanned 26 years most of it serving in Strategic Air Command.

After he retired, he went back to college at Wright State University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude carrying a double degree in Greek and History, carrying three languages at the same time. He was a faithful member of Christ Life Sanctuary (now Lifepointe Church) where he taught classes on the Bible and headed up the missions board. His achievements in missions include teaching the Bible in Italian at a youth center in Palermo, Italy, helping establish 31 churches in India, and supports to other missions abroad.

Wherever he went, he would always end the conversation with, "Remember, Jesus loves you." His kind compassionate, loving demeanor would impact untold thousands of lives as well as those of his family. He was a Teacher's teacher, instructing us all to obey the commandments of Jesus, "pray against and claim the victory over all circumstances, and stand our ground."

He is survived by his loving wife Jane Booton, his daughter Pamela (Tom), Step-children Harry (Nieda), Geoffrey (Elizabeth), Norman, and Janie (Clyde) Perry, grandchildren Joshua (Ashley), Suzanne (Tison), and Ben, 16 step-grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, sister, Doris Sebastian, and brother, Earl Booton. He will be sorely missed but we know that his reward in heaven is great, and those of us who are believers will see him again!

The family will receive friends Monday February 20, 2012 from 5-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439). The service will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 9:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
