Gladys Lula Roudebush

July 17, 1923 — August 25, 2017

Gladys would like to let you know that her work her is done. She received a call, a sort of "offer you can't refuse," for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a reunion between family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, playing cards, gardening, and cooking to her heart's content.

Lula Gladys Roudebush, 94, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017, in Germantown, Ohio. Gladys was born on July 17, 1923, in Troy, Alabama, to the late James and Lula Ryals. Gladys met the love of her life, Ray Roudebush, while he was stationed in Ft. Rucker, Alabama during WWII. She moved to Dayton, Ohio, when she married Ray in 1943.

In addition to her parents, Gladys is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ray Roudebush; daughter, Justina Rae Gibson, and son, Ronald Ray Roudebush. She is survived by daughters, Sandee (Robert) Edwards and Pamela (Wyatt) Keesbery; daughter-in-law, Wanda (Ron) Roudebush and numerous grandchildren/great grandchildren.

Gladys worked for the Civil Service during WWII while Ray was overseas. She worked with Ray at Roudebush Realty and Irongate Realty, selling real estate for 32 years. She was president and charter member of the Short Hills Garden Club, but her passion was playing Bridge. Gladys was a member of the Lutheran Church in Springboro, Ohio. She donated her body to the Wright State University School of Medicine.

A memorial gathering will be held on September 5, 2017, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45439. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton in Gladys' honor.
