Giles Bowling, 72, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Grandview Hospital.
He was born on May 28, 1941 in Hazard, KY.
He was preceded in death by 1 son, Giles Jr; parents, Sim and Fannie Bowling, 3 brothers, Arlie, Earl Sr, Doug Bowling; 1 sister, Shirley "Babe" Rose.
Giles is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Juliann "Mom"; 3 children, Billy, Diane and Royce; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; brother, Bill (Shirley) Bowling; 3 sisters, Faye (Arthur) Vaughn, Mary Lou Baker and Judy (Jerry) Campbell; brother, Gary Bowling; brother-in-law, Stanley (Pam) Martin; as well as many nieces, nephews, great friends and extended family.
He was affiliated with O.K.I. (Bluegrass) Association and served as President for many years. Giles was also known for "Roasting Hogs" at Mountain Day Festivals. He was an active member of Local 1184 Retirees Union and Local 225 Union, both to which he was very dedicated.
He is currently employed at Performance Paint and Supply.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH where funeral services will be held 10:30 am, Friday with Pastors, Kenny Shively, Jamie Bowling and William Buckland officiating.
Burial will take place in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
