Gilbert "Gibby" Napier
Age 79, of Riverside, passed away Friday, April 20, 2007, at his home after an extended illness. He was born March 8, 1928 in Stacy, Kentucky to Clarence & Stella (Allen) Napier. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Napier. Gibby is survived by his wife of the past 35 years, Vivian Napier; four daughters, Darlene (Robert) Biasi of Oakhurst, NJ, Doreen (Rodger) Mainville of Canterbury, CT, Melanie (Andy) Scheuermann and Janice Telgarsky, all of Norwich, CT; one son, Gilbert (Carrie) Napier of Norwich, CT; one step-son, Dan (Linda) Stamper of New Carlisle, OH; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two step-grandsons; five step- great grandchildren; special friend and sister-in-law, Jean (Don) Stamper of Middletown, OH; and by numerous family, friends and neighbors. Gibby loved his family, his Country and was very proud to have served in the Marine Corps from Dec. 1945 – Oct. 1947 and the U. S. Navy from Jan. 1948 – Feb. 1966. He was a life-time member of the VFW Post # 8312, Beavercreek, a member of the American Legion Post # 286, New Carlisle and he volunteered at the Internal Medicine B Clinic at Wright-Patterson Hospital. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. American Legion Post Everlasting services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions should be made in memory of Gibby to the American Legion Post # 286, 2251 North Dayton Lakeview Road, New Carlisle, Ohio 45344.
