Gilbert G. Gallagher

Gilbert Glyn Gallagher, 89, former Duncan resident, passed away on Aug. 7 in Beavercreek, Ohio.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13 in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rusty Stowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Glyn was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Comanche to Gilbert A. and Clara (Holloway) Gallagher. He married Billye Loree Harris on Aug. 15, 1945, in Duncan.

Glyn graduated from Marlow High School, received his Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University, a Masters Degree in astronautical engineering from Air Force Institute of Technology, a Masters in religious education and a PHD in psychology and counseling from Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary.

Glyn retired as a full Colonel from the U.S. Air Force in 1973 after flying P47's in WW II and during the Korean Conflict. He then served as a marriage and family counselor with the Mullins Baptist Association from 1983 to 1992. He was also a former member of Western Heights Baptist Church in Duncan.

Glyn is survived by his wife Billye of the home in Beavercreek, Ohio, two sons Steven Gallagher and wife Peggy of Compton, Ariz. and David Gallagher and wife Kathy of Beavercreek, Ohio, four grandchildren Marianne Johnson and husband Matt of Plano, Texas, Jonathan Gallagher and wife Charity of Fairborn, Ohio, Peter Gallagher and wife Heather of Garland, Texas and Daniel Gallagher of Beavercreek, Ohio, eight great-grandchildren Micah, Makenna and Marlee Johnson, Michael, Aiden and Ellie Gallagher and Christopher and Joshua Gallagher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Larry Gallagher and a sister Peggy Ree Stephenson.

Pallbearers will be Matt Johnson, Jonathan Gallagher, Peter Gallagher and Daniel Gallagher.
