Gertrude Winifred (Avery) Cooley departed this live on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Gertrude was born to the late Clearance and Anna Belle (Hutchings) Avery on May 2, 1938 in Cynthiana, KY.
Prior to graduating from the Paris-Western High School, Paris KY in 1957, she resided with her loving grandparents George and Gertrude Hutchings and siblings.
Gertrude's career in the data processing field, included employment at Fort Benjamin Harris Military Base, Indianapolis, IN., NCR, Cole-Layer & Trumble and General Motors/EDI, Dayton, OH.
Outside of her career, Gertrude was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed traveling across the country visiting with them. She was an advent gardener and excellent cook and seamstress.
Gertrude was a devoted Jehovah Witness for 35 years. She was member of the Wolf Creek congregation.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandsons, Damaro (Maury) Lewis and Dorrian Anderson; brothers, George Avery, Clearance Avery; sisters, Anna Roberts, Patricia Casterlow, and Mary Coleman.
Mourning her loss are her husband of 49 years, Otis Cooley, children, Angela Williams, Stacia Williams, Derrick Anderson and stepson Michael (Torsha) Mayfield; grandchildren, Garrison Anderson, Cayla Anderson, Justin Williams and Arron (LaTisha) Mayfield; one great-grandson, Cameron Porter; brothers Leonard Avery, William Coleman (Billie), Charles Coleman and one sister, Mae Hodge. Also mourning her loss are a host of nieces, nephews and friends; special friends Shirley Bowman, Diane Armstead, Kenny Odister, and her loving caregiver Deonsia (Robert) Scott.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel. A Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 pm. The family asks that guests wear masks while in attendance.
