Gertie E. Eachus, age 87, of Dayton, while surrounded by her family, she left this world to go meet Jesus on December 10, 2021. Gertie was born in Hazard, Kentucky on April, 4, 1934 to the late Palmer Stidham and Margaret Neace.
She loved to write songs and poems, and she even had one of her poems published by England's Poet's Society on the first page of one of the Poetry books. Gertie played guitar and piano, and she loved writing gospel music. She used to sing with her best friend of over 60 years, Geneva Disney. She was also a preacher for most of her life. She was also a Kentucky Colonel.
She had a store, Glen & Gertie's Second Hand Shop, but because of her kind and giving nature, she often gave away school clothes and other necessities to those in need. She would say, "I gotta bless others because God blessed me." She was a loving mother and mamaw, and she was an amazing woman. She made the Top 10 Women of the Year in 1986 in the Dayton Daily News, due to her charitable acts.
