Gerard "Gerry" Steckel, 92, of Dayton, Ohio, went to his Eternal Home on Sunday, December 25th, 2022. He was born January 22nd, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Clarence A. and Marie L. (Weisbarth) Steckel.
Gerry attended the University of Dayton where he earned a Master's Degree in Theology. He worked for Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities, where he was a Human Resources Director for 27 years. When he wasn't working, Gerry stayed active in the Knights of Columbus. You could find Gerry every Wednesday volunteering at St. Leonard's Health Center. He enjoyed spending time there singing, visiting the sick, giving sermons, and administering Holy Communion for over 16 years. He loved the Lord and was an active member at Incarnation Catholic Church. He participated in choir, Cursillo, and That Man Is You program. In the summer, he enjoyed playing golf with his friends. Gerry, Natalie, and Shannon took many summer and fall trips to Hilton Head Island, SC. His faith was very important to him and he was an exceptionally devoted husband and father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joann McIntyre and James F. Steckel.
Gerry is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 49 years, Natalie Steckel; daughter, Shannon Steckel; a brother, William L. (Patricia) Steckel; brother-in-law, Jim (Mary) Ruetten; sister-in-law, Isabelle Lipvoski; and many other extended family members and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, at 11:00am at Incarnation Catholic Church, 55 Williamsburg Lane, Dayton, Ohio 45459. A Visitation time will be held one hour prior beginning at 10:00am. His final resting place will be at Springboro Cemetery, in Springboro, Ohio.
