Geraldine Howard, affectionately known as "Dennie," passed away on February 26, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 81. Born on September 18, 1943, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, Dennie's life was characterized by a fiery spirit and unwavering dedication to her family and her craft.
A proud graduate of Powell Valley High School, Class of 1962, Dennie pursued a successful career as a Tool and Die maker with Dayton Progress, serving the company for over twenty-five years. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence earned her a respected place in her field.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Dennie was known for her spunky personality and love for life. She had a passion for singing and was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and NASCAR. Dennie liked to drive fast and riding with her was always an adventure. Her hands were often busy in the garden, where she especially enjoyed cultivating her prized tomatoes. Above all, Dennie held her family dear, valuing the time spent with them as the most precious aspect of her life.
Dennie is survived by her loving husband, Woody Howard, and her two sons, Jeff Chansler and Sean Chansler. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Lacey (Norman) Beach and Shelby (Justin) Andrews, as well as being a cherished great-grandmother to Maddison, Phoebe, and Oakley. She is also remembered fondly by her special cousins: Ruth, Tony, Rick, Debbie, Donna, Mike, Denise, and Dennis.
Dennie was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer "Pete" and Geneva Clevenger, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a spirited approach to life that will be missed by all who knew her.
