Meyer, Gerald E. (Jack), M.D. age 89, of Kettering, died on December 9, 2012. Dr. Meyer was born in Celina, Ohio on Grand Lake. He served more than three years in World War II and was with the 66th Infantry Division in Europe. He took his release from military service there and became a civilian member of the Military Government in Vienna, Austria, which was in the middle of the Russian Occupation Zone at that time. Upon his return to this country he re-entered Ohio State University and obtained his B.S. and M.D. degrees cum laude. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honorary societies. He trained at Miami Valley Hospital and practiced family medicine in the South Dayton area for thirty- five years.
He was a Diplomate of the American Academy of Family Medicine and was an Emeritus Clinical Professor in the School of Medicine at Wright State University of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years, Lucille (Jake) Meyer. He is survived by his sons Michael and Douglas Meyer, his daughters Barbara Meyer and Dr. Lori Sansone, and by his granddaughter Andrea Meyer Wade.
Visitation is Saturday December 15, 2012 from 10 am to 11 am with the Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11am all at Holy Angels Church, 1322 Brown Street, Dayton, OH 45409.
