LAUB, Gerald L. (Jerry) age 75, of Kettering went home to be with his Lord Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 50 years, Bernie, who were married in 1958; son, Dan (Kathy) of Denver, CO; daughter, Terri Williams (David Johnting) of Fountain City, IN; grandchildren, Anthony, Jeremy (Beatrice), Joy, Forrest, and Hope; great-grandchildren, Ariel and Jeremiah; sister, Jean Rausch; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margaret Laub. He was born Feb, 26, 1933 and graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in 1951. He retired from Hobart (Dayton Scale Division) in 1995 and was employed at Meijer's for 6 years. Jerry was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church for 59 years where he was an elder, deacon, sang in the choir, and served the Boy Scouts of America as Troop Leader and Committee Member for 63 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He loved the great outdoors, hiking, camping, and trips to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He was an Eagle Scout, and a member of the Liederkranz Choir for 10 years. He loved his music and traveling the world. He never saw a stranger and lived the Boy Scout oath and law; always willing to help. Jerry will be missed and loved by all his family and friends. A celebration of life will be held 11 AM Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1541 S. Smithville Rd. in Dayton. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or the Boy Scouts.
