Gerald "Jerry" Shumaker Jr., age 55 of Beavercreek, Ohio went to Heaven on October 26, 2021. He was born October 1, 1966 in Dayton, Ohio son of Gerald and Lucy Shumaker.
Jerry was a devoted husband, loving father, son, papaw, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving on the USS Missouri. Jerry and Lindy have been members of Cornerstone Baptist Temple for 32 years. Jerry worked for Dayton Metropolitan Housing for 17 years and was medically retired. He loved God, his family, his church, his country, his dogs, and his 1970 Camaro.Even through many trials in his life medically, Jerry had a zeal for life and a strong love for his family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his grandma, Mildred Shumaker; Pappy, Elmer Shumaker; grandma, Leona Kairn; and father and mother in law, Jerry and Betty Shaw.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lindy Shumaker; daughters, Abigail (Jon) Hart and April Shumaker; grandson, Kason Hart; granddaughter, Vivyan Hart; brother, Chris (Sharon) Shumaker; sister-in-law, Lisa (Steve) Geisel; brother-in-law, Jeff (Brandy) Shaw; nieces, Stephanie (Luke), Chelsea, Sydney, Zoe, and Joy; nephew, Caleb; aunts, Candy and Mary Edith; his beloved furry companions, Tucker and Tink; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 10am to 1pm at Cornerstone Baptist Temple (1707 Ohmer Avenue Dayton, Ohio 45410). A Funeral Service will begin at 1pm at Cornerstone Baptist Temple with Pastor Charles Webb and Pastor Jerry Siler officiating.
A Graveside service will be held for family and close friends on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 12 noon at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
