Gerald A. Ferguson

November 2, 1925 — June 22, 2022

Gerald Andrew Ferguson, 96, of Miamisburg, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 22, 2022. He was born November 2, 1925 in Sidney, Ohio, to the late Kenneth and Mabel (Frazier) Ferguson. Gerald graduated from Sidney High School in 1944. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a CPT 2nd Class.

Gerald met Evelyn on a Tuesday night in 1946 at a roller skating rink in Russells Point, Ohio. They were soon a couple and married on June 30, 1947 in Newport, Kentucky. Together they built a wonderful life, raised two daughters, and enjoyed all the blessings God gave them.

After his time in the military, jobs were hard to find back home. He was given an opportunity with a local food supply company and decided he would work so hard they would consider him irreplaceable. Gerald worked at Seymour Foods for 25 years, retiring in 1970. He was the top salesman almost every year until he retired. After retirement, he kept true to his work ethic, finding a part time job. Gerald was a man who could fix things no one else could. He was known for his natural satire, a favorite among his co-workers for making them laugh all day.

He loved the Lord and was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church. Gerald knew countless Bible verses from memory and was a strong man of faith. One of his favorite daily activities was reading the Bible with his wife before bed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Evelyn; and a family who will miss him dearly including his two daughters, Pamela Barry and Patci Ferguson; grandchildren, Angela (Ray) Davis, Doug (Jessica) Barry, and Abby (Phil) Perkins; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Cameron Davis, Drew and Justin Barry, and Gavin and Brody Perkins; as well as many other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Ferguson; and sisters, Verona Hickerson, Juanita Williams, and Olive Mary Sheaks.
