Gerald Eugene Wallace
Age 80, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Kettering Medical Center.
Gerald was preceded in death by one son, David Bruce Wallace (in June of 2010); his parents, Floyd & Mattie Catherine (Piersall) Wallace; two sisters, Shirley Norem & Joan Rae Wallace; and his brother, Jimmie Lewis Wallace also passed away on Thursday evening.
Gerald is survived by his wife of the past 59 years, Lenna E. (Triff) Wallace; two sisters, Delores (Jay) Kellogg & Eloise (Myron) Bailey; his special aunts, Geneva Moody, Loraine Wilmoth, Germaine Wallace & Nettie Mae Taylor; and by numerous nieces & nephews.
Gerald graduated from Jefferson Twp. High School, class of 1948; he was a 30-year City of Dayton employee and for eight years he served as a City of Dayton Firefighter – having graduated first in his class with honors; and he worked as a Master Plumber for 30 years and was a member of Local 162. During the Korean War Gerald served in the U. S. Army as a Sergeant in the Punch Bowl area. At the age of 72 he fulfilled his life-long dream of becoming a pilot having taken classes at Sinclair College. Gerald was also a life-long avid fisherman and was a member of the Lyre Lake "Fishing Club" for many years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5, at 12:00 Noon at the Miamisburg Assembly of God Church, 501 N. Ninth Street, Miamisburg, Ohio 45342. Pastor Bart Ellis will officiate. The family will be receiving friends from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Gerald to the Miamisburg Assembly of God Church.
