Gerald Edward (Gary)Rogers, age 60, of Dayton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 6, 2015. He was born May 20, 1955 in Springfield, the son of Edward E. and Mary Joan (Mitchell) Rogers. Gary was a 1973 graduate of Northwestern High School, where he played football and was a member of the wrestling team. Following high school he became a devoted body builder, participating in local and state competitions. He was an avid Formula 1 racing enthusiast and enjoyed playing guitar in the band, Kindred Spirit, with his brother. He worked at Standard Register for twenty years and was a part-time employee at Newcomb's Tavern for fifteen years. Always an advocate for physical fitness, Gary pursued a career as a personal fitness trainer for the past ten years, owning and operating 360 Plus Personal Fitness Studio in Dayton. He is survived by his wife of ten years, Angela (Angie) Behnfeldt; father, Edward Rogers; sister, Carolyn (Bob) Thaxton; brother, Rob (Julia) Rogers; nieces, Lori Rogers, Emily Rogers, Jessica (Jeremy) Beck, Elizabeth (Nick) Cates and Corinne Thaxton; nephews, Neil Rogers and Rob Thaxton; one grandniece, and three grandnephews along with many other family and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, and sister, Lori Diane Rogers. Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a funeral service to follow on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 9 a.m. Burial will take place at Clifton-Union Cemetery. www.NewcomerDayton.com
