Cooper, Gerald E. "Jerry", 65, of Huber Heights, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.
He was born December 23, 1950 in Mansfield, Ohio to Art and Louise Cooper. Jerry graduated from Lewis Co. High School in Vanceburg, KY in 1969. He was an Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Jerry married the love of his life, Beverly (Buckner) Cooper in 1974. He became a Christian early in his life and faithfully served Christ his entire life. He never met a stranger and touched many lives through his prison ministry outreach. Even with his own health struggles, Jerry spent many hours visiting with the elderly and shut ins. Jerry and his family attended the Huber Heights Church of God for the past 26 years. He was very involved in various ministries in the church including the mens and childrens ministries. He was an avid fisherman and a classic car enthusiast. The highlight of Jerry's life was his children and grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Art Cooper. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Bev; 2 sons, Mark Cooper, Eric (Monica) Cooper; 2 grandsons, Wyatt and Reed Cooper; mother, Louise Cooper; 2 brothers, Gary (Linda) Cooper, Richy (Amy) Cooper; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Jerry was blessed with many friends who were like family.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Huber Heights Church of God 6900 Brandt Pike Huber Heights, Ohio 45424, where funeral service will follow at 4:00pm.
Jerry will be laid to rest on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Dayton National Cemetery.
