George C. Young, age 84, of Kettering, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. George was born May 19, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri to George and Lisette (Sadie) Young who preceded him in death. He had one sister, Lovey Schrenker, of St. Louis, Missouri who also preceded him in death.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Young; children, Carol (David) Roberts, Wendy (Larry) Curtis, Lorrie (Guy) Kneebone, Linda (Manny) Gocon, and Skip Young. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Maria (Alex) Kerford, Benjamin Roberts, Phillip (Lissa) Curtis, Rebecca Roberts, Mary Sarah (Brent) Rader, Patrick Curtis, Gretchen Kneebone, Elise Roberts, Ronald Curtis, Grace Kneebone, Rebecca Kneebone, Emil Gocon, Rachel Kneebone, Jonathan Gocon, Peter Gocon, Lisa Kneebone, Scott Gocon, and David Kneebone; and one great grandson, Caleb Kneebone. George is also survived by nieces, Jackie (Duke) Toomey, Karen (Jim) Lober, and nephews, Ronald (Teresa) Schrenker, Richard (Cheryl) Schrenker, as well as several cousins, all of St. Louis, Missouri.
George was a graduate of the University of Missouri – Rolla where he earned a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base after over 30 years of loyal service as an engineer. He attended Fairhaven Church in Centerville, Ohio.
George was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who was treasured by his family and will be dearly missed. Family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the funeral home, with burial following at Miami-Corwin Cemetery, Waynesville.
