George N. Witt, age 89, of West Chester, Ohio, died on Sunday, May 29, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his son Gregory Witt, his brother Lawrence Witt, and his sisters Lucille Steele, Eileen Hartman, and Elizabeth Kerr.
George is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma (Derrickson) Witt; his son Stephen Witt and daughter-in-law, Terri Witt; his daughter-in law, Alice Witt; and seven grandchildren; Jennifer (Louis) Jens, Edward (Robyn) Witt, Victoria (Jeremy) Witt-Green, Amber Witt, Leah Witt, James Witt and Jeremy Witt, as well as his siblings James Witt, Bernice Geraci, Rosemary Witt and Ruth Pritchard. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
George was born in Logan, Indiana on Sept 10, 1926 to Edward and Elizabeth (Memke) Witt. He attended St John's grade school in Dover, Indiana and graduated from Bright High School, Bright Indiana.
He served as a Pharmacist's Mate in the Navy during World War II. He was stationed in the American zone and the Pacific zone. After the war was over he attended an airline school and went to work for All American Airways (now US Air) in Washington D. C. where he met his wife Wilma. They were married November 3, 1951. He was in sales for many years, retiring at 66 and working part time until he was 85.
George had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his family and was a wonderful husband and father.
Visitation will be Monday June 6th from 9:30- 10:30 and the service will begin at 10:30 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, located at 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio. Burial will follow at the Dayton National Cemetery.
