George Weaver

WEAVER, George "Jim", 89, died September 21, 2011.

He was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 25, 1922 to the late, George J and Estella (Worman) Weaver.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Mary Dwyer, Margaret Alexander and Frances E. Weaver.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 67 years, Lukathryn "Ludy" Weaver (married 06-01-1944), sons Mike (Patty) Weaver, Steve Weaver, Tom (Debbie) Weaver, grandsons James, Ian and Reilly, nieces M. Pat Berry, Kathleen Dwyer, Karen Kemper and nephews, Glenn and Paul Alexander.

Jim was a machinist for Harris Seybold Company, owner of Weaver's Hardware and Appliance, procurement analyst at the Defense Electronic Supply Center and retired from contract procurement at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was a World War II veteran; completing 20 missions over Germany in 1944-45 as a B-24 pilot with the 389th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force. He also served on the boards of the Montgomery County Hearing and Speech Center, Dayton Hardware Association and St. Helen Credit Union.

For his church he solicited funds and maintained the books for the Archbishop's Greater Dayton High School Campaign Fund, Sisters of Notre Dame Building Fund and Immaculate Conception New Church Fund, served as Ham Booth chairman for eight years at Immaculate's festival and was a founding booster member at Carroll High School.

He happily spent his retirement as a volunteer at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Jim was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and loyal friend.

The family thanks Dr. James Derksen, his staff and the staffs of Crossroads Hospice and Heartland of Beavercreek for their unwavering care and support.

The family will receive friends Monday, September 26, 2011 from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – Beavercreek, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd.
