George S. Crawford, Jr, 77 of Oakwood passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2005 after a short illness. A fifth generation Daytonian, he was a veteran of the Korean War, receiving the Army Commendation medal while serving in an intelligence unit in Korea. He was Past President of the Oakwood Sister City Association and the Oakwood Historical Society; life member of the Dayton Jaycees; former member of the Moraine Country Club and Oakwood Kiwanis. Along with his wife Sally, he was a nationally known antique dealer. Prior to becoming an antique dealer he was a realtor for 36 years, winning 5 Top-10 sales awards. George was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Springer Crawford; a brother Bill; his first wife Sophia (Sandy) Emmons Crawford; a son George III, and a daughter Catherine Anne. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Sally Marshall Crawford; children: Joseph (Kate) Lagedrost, Karen (Mike) Wood, Barbara (Frelan) West, Louise (Jim) Randall, Robin (Jeff) Mays, Sheree (Bennett) Robb, Charles Crawford, Patrick (Becky) Crawford; 12 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 10 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Family will recieve friends from 1 PM until time of service.
